One of Our Youngest and Newest Seaplane Pilots – Congratulations, Ryan!

July 20, 2009

Talk about bragging rights – Ryan Wacker, of Palm Coast, Florida, has been flying seaplanes since he was 6-weeks old! To be fair though, he’s taken his dad, Tripp Wacker, along for the ride on most of those flights.  That all changed on June 28, however.   June 28th was Ryan’s 16th birthday – and on that great day he soloed both on land and water in a A1B Husky Ambibian!!  Ryan has logged almost 200 hours total time in all four aircraft classes – ASEL, ASES, AMEL, AMES, Turboprop, and Jet.

Tripp & Ryan Wacker on Ryan's big day

Since Ryan lost the back of his T-shirt on the big day (see photo below) and to help recognize Ryan’s remarkable achievement, we’re sending him our brand new SPA Water Birds T-Shirt, featuring the Sam Lyons painting of the deHavilland Beaver along with an SPA hat.  Way to go Ryan!  We’re all proud of you!!
