New SPA Forum to Debut Soon!
Website enhancements also planned
SPA is pleased to announce a new partnership with Straight and Level Productions, Inc. and well-known forum guru Steve Johnson, to design, launch and moderate a new forum for SPA’s membership. Steve is probably best known as the designer and host of SuperCub.Org, a very popular ten-year-old online aviation community focusing on back country and recreational flying. SuperCub.org enjoys visits from over 70,000 computers each month.
Steve is a twenty-eight year veteran in the computer industry, avid seaplane-rated pilot, flight instructor, and aircraft owner. In 2008, Steve, along with partners Steve and Cathy Pierce, started ShortWingPipers.org, another successful web community catering to the care and feeding of the five short wing Piper aircraft.
Joining Steve in the SPA project is his wife Laura, who brings a versatile set of people and problem solving skills to the table. She loves interacting with “plane” people, and is a key partner in the day-to-day management and moderation of SuperCub.org. Laura is also SES rated, and together they own a 180hp Piper Super Cub and a Cessna 180. Laura’s professional background includes twenty-five years in the sales and customer service areas of the insurance industry.
SPA’s goal in this partnership is to create a true online community, not just a bulletin board. Steve and Laura share SPA’s philosophy that this should be a place for members to take ownership and experience it as a home base for their seaplane experience. It should also be a welcoming portal to entice others into the magical world of water flying.
No hard date has been set, but the goal is to have the new forum launched by mid-July. We are also working with Steve on some other exciting concepts to strengthen and enhance the SPA website and overall online experience. More to come on that!
We are delighted to welcome Steve and Laura to this project, and know that their wisdom and expertise will be a tremendous resource to SPA’s membership. Watch this blog and Twitter posts for updates and news of the launch date as we get closer.
Thanks for everyone’s input and patience – we’re almost there!
