Telford M. Allen Jr. Obituary
ROCKWOOD, MAINE – Telford M. Allen Jr., 64, died unexpectedly Aug. 1, 2010. He was born Nov. 2, 1945, in Philadelphia, son of Telford and Charlotte (Loud) Allen. Telford traveled extensively with his parents when he was young and attended school in many places, finally graduating from Greenville High School. He was always interested in aviation and earned his pilot’s license at the young age of 17 and started his flying career as a bush pilot for Folsom’s Air Service, Greenville. In 1982, he founded Telford Aviation, Inc., an international aviation services company. Telford was very active in both local and aviation organizations. He was one of the founding members and most recent director of International Seaplane Fly-In, which is held at Moosehead Lake each September. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend and son. He was predeceased by his wife, Pamela (McIver) Allen, in 2009. He is survived by his mother, Charlotte of Falmouth; two sons, Telford Allen III and his wife, Karen, and Travis Allen, all of Hampden; two brothers, Peter Allen and his wife, Patty, of New Hampshire and Thomas Allen and his wife, Aileen, of Bath; two sisters, Lynn Rucci and her husband, Sebastian, of New Jersey and Liz Allen of California; his loving companion, Natalie Holmes-Moody of Rockwood; and five grandchildren, Samantha, Garrett, Kaytlin, Ashton and Erica Rose. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Greenville Chapel of Crosby & Neal, located at the Masonic Hall, 281 Pritham Ave., Greenville. Private services are being held for family members only. A celebration of his life will be held during the Fly-In, Saturday, Sept. 11, at Telford Hangar, Greenville, at a time that will be announced.
